Setup Facebook Shop (A step-by-step guide)

Step 1. Create a free Facebook developer account

Go to the Facebook Developers Page and in the top right hand corner click 'Log In'.

Use your Facebook credentials to login or create a new account if you don't currently have an account.

Note: Creating a Facebook application requires verifying a real person is associated with the Facebook account. You must associate a mobile phone number or a credit card with your Facebook account before receiving Facebook developer privileges. If you already have this setup on your connected personal account, it may not ask you for these details.

A Facebook developer account extends your Facebook personal account with access to Facebook developer tools including Facebook application management.

a. Now hover over the My Apps button and select ‘Register as a Developer’ from the drop down box.

b. If you have an existing account that already has your phone number listed, the following box will appear.

c. If you do not have your mobile number or credit card confirmed by Facebook. You will see this screen and will need to fill out all the details and have them send a confirmation number to your phone.

d. When you see this box. Your Developer account is setup. Proceed to Step 2.

Step 2. Add a new website Facebook app

Click on the "Add a New App" menu option under the "My Apps" menu header. A popup box will appear. Select the option "Website" to get started.

Enter a name for your app and click "Create New Facebook App ID".

A popup box will appear. Choose a category for your app and click "Create App ID".


Step 3. Tell Facebook about your website

You'll end up on the 'Setup the Facebook SDK for JavaScript' page. Scroll down to the "Tell us about your website" section at the bottom.

Complete the following fields:

 Site URL 

Click "Next" to continue.

Step 4. Configure Your App

Scroll down to the "Next steps" section and click on the "Skip to Developer Dashboard" link or go to "Apps > The Name of your app" to enter the app dashboard.


Step 5. Add your App ID to your Neto control panel

Locate the App ID on the App Dashboard.

Copy the APP ID above as we'll need it for the next step.

Step 6. Setup Facebook in Neto

In the Addons store, install the Facebook app. Alternatively, you can find it directly by going to:

Once in this section, click on 'Install App' as per below.

A prompt will appear asking if you wish to edit styles now, select 'No'.

Now scroll down to 'Step 6. Add your App ID to your Neto control panel' and now paste your APP ID you copied in the previous step.


Step 7. Add your domain name and email to Developer Page

From the Facebook Developer Page, go to My apps, click on the "Settings" menu tab and complete the following fields.

App Domains

Contact Email  

 Your email address


Step 8. Create a Page Tab app

On the same page, click the "+ Add Platform" button.

Select the "Page Tab" option.

Complete the following fields:

 Secure Page Tab URL

 Page Tab Name  Shop
 Page Tab Edit URL
 Page Tab Image  Image that is displayed to end-users. Must be 111 x 74 pixels.

Please note: if you want to have the Shop default page pointing to a product page or another page other than your home page, you need to update the URL accordingly. Example: (Secure Page Tab URL) (Page Tab Edit URL)

Once completed, click 'Save Changes'.

Step 9. Make your app live to public

From the left hand side menu option on the app's dashboard, Click on "Status & Review".

Now make your app live by selecting the slider button next to 'Do you want this make this app and all its live features available to the general public?' to yes.

Confirm when the pop up box appears.


Step 10. Add app to your company Facebook page

Go back to your Neto Facebook Setup page in Neto (visit if you closed the link) and scroll down to Step 10 to complete this section.

When clicking 'Add App to Facebook Page' some users may experience a message 'An error occurred. Please try again later'. Simply refresh the Neto page and press the button again.
