How to set up products

Neto has a large number of predefined product fields available to use. You can expand these fields using Addon’s from the Addon store.

You can also create your own “custom” fields if a field you need does not exist already. To add a new custom or a miscellaneous field simply go to the Neto dashboard and navigate to Setup & Tools > All settings & tools > Scroll to the Products tab, click on Custom Product Fields.

Control Panel Method

  1. Creating Products through the Neto dashboard couldn’t be easier. To get started, navigate to
    Products > Add New Product.

  2. The “Add New Product” function allows you to create different types of products.

  3. Select Regular Product; this will reveal some additional fields that will need to be populated.

  4. Complete all the presented fields, upload a product image click Continue. Your Product will now be created and you will be presented with additional fields, however these additional fields are optional.

Data Import Method - Products

You can upload Products in bulk to the system using the Data Integration tools provided.

What is a CSV File?

A CSV is a comma separated values file, which allows data to be saved in a table structured format. CSVs look like a garden-variety spreadsheet but with a .csv extension (Traditionally they take the form of a text file containing information separated by commas, hence the name).

Required Product Fields

Completing the following fields will give you the minimum information allowable to create a Product in Neto:

  • SKU
  • Name
  • Active
  • Approved
  • Brand
  • RRP
  • Price
  • Cost Price
  • Description
  • Height m (Shipping)
  • Width m (Shipping)
  • Length m (Shipping)
  • Cubic (Shipping)
  • Qty In Stock (Primary Warehouse)
  • Category Name List

Pro Tip: Spending the time to add dimensions (length, width, height, cubic) to your products will benefit you in the long run. These dimensions can be used in conjunction with low cost routing giving you the ability to ship with the cheapest carrier possible.

Importing a Product CSV

  1. Once you have prepared your Product CSV for import, from the Neto Dashboard, navigate to Setup & tools > Import Data.

  2. On the Import Data page, select Products as the Data Type you will be importing.

  3. If you are using a CSV that was prepared by Neto, select Perform Simple Import, otherwise, if you would like to map your own column headings, select Perform Complex Import. Both will produce the same results in the end.

  4. Once you’ve selected either Simple or Complex Import, locate and upload your file.

  5. Ticking the Update existing products (matched by SKU) button will match any existing SKU’s your have in your Neto control panel and update them with any changed information. This is great for updating certain information in bulk.

  6. Once uploaded, you will be shown a preview of your import. This preview will tell you how many products are being imported as well as a preview of the data being imported. If the number of products and the preview fields look correct to you, click Start Import.

  7. If the number of Products and the Preview data looks incorrect, review your csv file to ensure you have the correct information in the correct columns before proceeding.

  8. A batch process job will be triggered in the background and will start importing your products. This may take a few minutes depending on how many products you importing.

  9. After a few minutes, you can view your newly imported products from the Neto dashboard by navigating to Products > View all Products from the side menu bar.
