How do I export products, customers or orders using the wizard?

You can export any type of content from your Neto account in .CSV (spreadsheet) or .TXT (plain text) file format using the export wizard. Once you have exported data, you can then edit the data in a spreadsheet program such as Excel and then re-import the data to update your database or add new data.

How do I export data using the export wizard?

  1. Go to Setup & tools > Export Data

  2. Select the type of data you want to export:

    • Products
    • Product Categories
    • Customers
    • Orders
    • Order Payments
  3. Select the Export type you wish to use.

Perform simple export will just give you the option to export popular or all fields.

Perform complex export will give you the control the fields you wish to import. If you choose this option, select the Start Data Export Wizard.

Exporting with simple export (continued)

  1. Select whether you wish to export popular fields only or export all fields and press Preview.

  2. You should now see a preview of the export. In this section you have the option to unselect unwanted columns to export. Once complete, press the Export button.

  3. The system will spend time generating the file. Once complete, press the Download button and you’re done.

Exporting with complex export (continued)

  1. Select the file format you want to be generated (.csv or .txt) and name your file, eg. export1 and click Continue to Next Step.

  2. Note: If you need to export data in XML or another file format please create an export template from scratch (for advanced users) or use the Neto API (for programmers or developers). To create an XML in the wizard, simply go back a step and select Create New Export Template in the dropdown menu for Perform complex export.

  3. Enter a name for your export file (eg: myproducts). This will be the name of the file that is generated.

  4. Click on the Continue to Next Step.

  5. Build your export file by adding the fields you want to display in your file. You can rename the fields as you add them, this will change the column header names in your export file.

  6. For this example, if you want to export a list of products with SKU, Name and Description you would add the fields SKU, Name and Description from the *Product Data field during this step. Once complete, press Continue to Next Step.

Note: You must add fields at this step or your file will be empty.

  7. Filter your export file results. You can filter the results that are exported by adding filters. You can filter by any active field in the database. For example you can filter a file to only include products with a price higher than $10. Once complete, press Continue to Next Step.

  8. Select where you want the export file to be sent to once created:

    • Email Address (file will be sent to you by email)
    • FTP location (file will be uploaded to specified FTP server)
    • Server (file will be uploaded to your Neto server for you or others to access through a URL)
  9. If you export the information set up regularly, it is a good idea to create a template so you can run the process or download the file as required.

  10. Once complete, allow up to 10 minutes for the export file to be generated and sent to you, or uploaded to the specified location.
