Import product categories and content from a .CSV file

You can import product categories using a .CSV file, to either create new or update existing categories. This is a simple way to create or update a large number of product categories in minutes.

You can also use this method to create content pages for your site as well. Content pages include brands, forms, blogs, and information pages.

Your .CSV spreadsheet must be in the correct format for importing into the system.

The following primary fields are available in the import template. The full list of fields and their usage is available in our Content Field Definitions Article.

  • Content Type
  • Parent Content Path
  • Name
  • Description 1
  • Description 2
  • Sort Order
  • SEO Meta Description
  • SEO Meta Title
  • SEO Meta Keywords

  1. To make the process simpler, download Neto’s sample template and populate the fields accordingly.

  2. Save the completed file as a comma separated values (CSV, MS-DOS) file.

  3. From the Neto Dashboard, navigate to Setup & Tools > Import Data

  4. Select the import type of Product Categories (this works for other content types too). Choose Perform complex import and select Start Data Import Wizard.

  5. Upload your newly made CSV by selecting Choose File and navigating to your file, then click Continue To Next Step.

  6. Match the fields in your file to Neto’s database fields. If you have used the sample template, this step will be done for you and you can Continue To Next Step.

  7. Set your update options to either add new content, or just update content in the file, then Continue To Next Step.

  8. If you plan on importing using these settings in future, save the configuration as a template by checking the box and giving your template a name. Then Process File Now.

Once uploaded, your product category tree or content will be updated with the information from your file. Please allow a few minutes for the upload process to complete. If you have problems, you can check the process manager log for issues or errors.
