Modifying Fields on Import

Joining (Concatenating) Fields On Import

When importing to a list field that contains multiple records you sometimes need to join / concat multiple fields from your source file together. You can choose to do this offline by editing your source file or you can have the system do this for you as part of the import process.

During the setup of your import template in Neto, use the “join to” feature of the import system to join the fields of your source file together on the fly.

Example # 1

In the below example, Field 1 will be joined to Field 2 to create a single field:

Example # 2

In the below example, Field 1 will be joined to Field 2 to create a single field separated by a comma:

Example # 3

In the below example, Field 1 will be joined to Field 2 to create a single field separated by a static dash:

Applying Simple Calculations to Numeric Fields on Import

During an import process, the system is capable of applying calculations to numeric fields. For example if you are importing to a price field, you can apply a calculation to your import field to manipulate the price being imported.

During the setup of your import template in Neto, use the “calculation” feature of the import system (see drop down select box on the right of your import fields). The following calculations can be performed:

  • + (add)
  • - (subtract)
  • x (multiply)
  • / (divide)

Example # 1

In the below example, Price will be multiplied by a static value of 1.2 therefore increasing the price imported by 20%

Example # 2

In the below example, a static value of 1 will be added to Price, therefore increasing the price imported by $1.
