Developing a Website with Neto
Note: We have updated our folder structure in Neto 6 and this has not been updated on all tweaks yet. More info.

Developing for Neto: Simple Workflow

There are a number of different workflows you can use when developing websites on the Neto platform. This is the simple workflow - it covers the most basic setup that you'll need to get started.

Requirements

This workflow requires the following:

Start A New Project

Once you have all of the above requirements in place, we can start setting them up.

Step 1. Install Skeletal

All custom themes should be built from our base template, Skeletal. In order to install the latest version of Skeletal, complete the following steps:

  1. Go to Content > Website Themes in the cpanel, hover over "Skeletal" and click the green "Install" button.

  2. If Skeletal is already installed for you, you'll need to click the arrow next to "Edit Styles" and choose "Reinstall" instead.

Step 2. Set up your FTP client and start coding

Transmit

  1. Setup your FTP account in Transmit. You can request one here if you haven't already.

  2. Connect to your site.

  3. Navigate your site's filesystem to whichever template you're trying to edit. For example if you're starting from the header (as most people do), you'll need to navigate to private/www/netosuite/templates/[your_theme_name]/headers/template.html.

If you're wanting to jump into style changes immediately, the stylesheets are located in this folder: httpdocs/assets/[your_theme_name]/css.

  4. Right-click on the file you want to edit and open with your chosen code editor.

You can now make the necessary code changes; Transmit will recognise when the file has been saved and upload to the server immediately.

Dreamweaver

  1. First, you need to setup your Site and Server. Click on the dropdown with "Computer" on the top-right of the site, and choose "Manage Sites".

  2. Click on the "New Site" button, fill out the "Site Name" field and choose a location for the website files that you'll be editing locally. Don't hit save yet.

  3. Click on "Servers" on the left hand-side, and then the little plus icon to add the FTP details.

  4. Add your unique FTP details. Also choose "SFTP", and change "Port" to "2022", as per the below example. Hit save once done.

  5. Back on the Dreamweaver home screen, click the connector icon () underneath your site name to connect to your site's filesystem.

  7. Once you've made your changes, complete a full sync to get your site up-to-date by clicking the sync icon.
