How do I cancel a GTC (good ‘til canceled) listing?

GTC (good ‘til canceled) listings will keep renewing on eBay until they are manually cancelled or sold out for 3 months. To cancel a listing:

  1. From the Neto Dashboard navigate to eBay > Active Listings.

  2. Open the listing you wish to end by selecting the red Listing ID.

  3. Select the Ending Reason and click End Listing.

Please Note: If your listing rules template is set to automatically relist items when a listing ends you will need to change this setting first.

How do I display variation images on eBay?

The eBay API has a restriction on the number of variation images that can be displayed. The number of images is limited to the first set of variations. For example, Colour: Black, Red or White.

If a second set of variations are available (for example size) images for these variations will not be displayed.

To specify which sets of images you would like to display select the set in the listing rules template.

  1. From the Neto Dashboard navigate to Products > Product Specifics.

  2. Select the variation that has the images you want to display by selecting the Name or ID.

  3. Set the Sort Order to a number higher than the specific that has images you don’t want displayed.

  4. Save and list the product to eBay.

Please Note: Changing the specific sort order is applied for your entire account. eBay does not allow images on variation listings to be changed once a sale is made and changing the sort order may cause errors for existing listings.

How do I generate a new eBay token if my token has expired?

When you integrate your Neto account with eBay an authorisation token is generated. This token lasts approximately one year and enables Neto to access your eBay account. After one year the token will need to be regenerated, but you can generate a new token at any time.

  1. From the Neto Dashboard navigate to eBay > Setup & Tools.

  2. Select Store Manager.

  3. Select the store you want to generate a new token for.

  4. Click on the Generate New eBay Token button.

You will then be directed to the eBay site to login and authorise Neto to access your account. Once you have completed this step a new token will be automatically generated.

How do I have different product information for my website and eBay?

You can have different product titles, subtitles, descriptions, images and pricing for your eBay listings and your website. You will need to populate these fields in Neto (either manually on the product page or by csv import) and map them on the eBay listings template. If the fields don’t exist on your products you can also create custom product fields.

  1. From the Neto Dashboard navigate to eBay > Listing Rules Templates.

  2. Open the template you want to update by clicking the ID.

  3. Select the Field Mapping tab. Here you will see a number of mapping options, for example, product title and subtitle.

  4. You can map these to the appropriate product field, create a static value or create a new, unique title by using the concatenate function (combining fields or static values).

In the example below, the new eBay title is what is written in the field called eBay Title (which is a custom product field).

In the example below, the new eBay title is the name plus the brand plus the static value text.

If the name is “Baby Bottle 200ml Green” and the brand is “Baby Love”, it will create the new title:

Baby Bottle 200ml Green Baby Love Brand New

To Use A Different Product Description

Populate the eBay Description field on the product page. If your listing design was created by Neto it will automatically use this data.

To Use Different Images

Please see out in depth guide to using different images on eBay and your website.

How do I install a shipping calculator for eBay “freight” type listings?

Please Note: Shipping calculators embedded in the listing descriptions will no longer be supported by ebay from June 2017.

The calculator is still a useful tool for testing shipping costs and won’t be removed entirely. The code can be found in the relevant support article.

How do I list products with variations to eBay?

Variation listings are dependent on whether the category in eBay allows the option or not. eBay has restrictions on which categories allow variations and which don’t.

You can create listings with variations in many eBay categories:

  • Baby

  • Cameras

  • Clothing, Shoes & Accessories

  • Computers

  • Crafts

  • Electronics

  • Health & Beauty

  • Home & Garden

  • Jewellery & Watches

  • Sporting Goods

  • Vehicle Parts & Accessories

For an updated list and more information visit the eBay support desk regarding Creating A Listing With Variations.

If a product has variations (eg: comes in different colours and sizes) then you must only list the parent or container product and not each individual variation. When you list the parent product, the system will automatically list all of its variations (children).

To make a listing template that supports variations

  1. From the Neto Dashboard navigate to eBay > Listing Rules Templates.

  2. Open or create the template that you want to use with your variations.

  3. Select the Categorisation and Listing Rules tab.

  4. Scroll down and select the Variation Listing Template setting.

  5. Complete the rest of the rules template settings as per usual.

  6. Assign the parent product to the rules template.

  7. Save your changes

The system will now automatically list the variations assigned to a product when this option is enabled. You must have product variations added to the product on the product page in order to use this option. Failure to assign variations will prevent products from listing.

Please Note: eBay does not allow changes to variation related information in listings once listed. The only way to update the information in the listing is to end the listing and relist.

How do I specify different pricing for my website and eBay?

You can do this by selecting a pricing group, populating it with your eBay pricing and then specifying the pricing group on the eBay listing template.

For example, you could make group “A” the website retail price, group “B” the website wholesale price and group “C” the eBay price. You can also change the names of the pricing groups to make it easier to remember. Find more information on pricing groups click here.

Once you have populated the price group you will use for eBay you will need to create a listing rules template and map the pricing under the Field Mapping tab.

How do I subscribe/unsubscribe eBay customers to/from  my newsletter?

This is an advanced configuration setting. To enable:

  1. From the Neto Dashboard navigate to Setup & Tools > All Settings & Tools.

  2. Select Other from the side menu, and then choose Advanced Configuration.

  3. Filter by the name OPTIN_EBAY_ORDER_USERS.

  4. Open the setting and change it to Yes if you want ebay customers to be automatically subscribed, or NO if you don’t want them to be subscribed.

  5. Save your changes.

Why is this eBay order on hold with a warning: shipping cost?

There is a configuration in the system setup that enables Neto to check all incoming eBay orders for the correct shipping.

  1. From the Neto Dashboard navigate to eBay > Setup & Tools.

  2. Select Settings.

  3. Check the setting Validate Shipping Costs On Order Creation.

When enabled, this will check the shipping cost paid by customers on eBay against your system calculated shipping cost during order import to determine if the correct shipping cost has been paid. If the incorrect shipping has been paid orders will be placed on hold automatically.

For further steps please refer to our in depth guide regarding eBa orders on hold.
