In this video we will take you through the steps to upload content to your website, in particular, product categories. Product categories are what you assign your products to so that customer can easily navigate your site.
You can create as many categories as you like, and have as many sub categories at each level.
To get started, in the Neto Dashboard, navigate to Setup & Tools > Import.
Select Product Categories and choose Perform Complex Import, then Start Data Import Wizard.
Click the link to download a sample import file, so that you can populate your data. The format of the sample file is pre-defined to match Neto’s fields, but you can use a file provided by your supplier or from another system.
In the file you have a number of fields that can be populated with data.
Mandatory fields are your Content Type, Content Path, and Name.
Content type determines what type of data you’re uploading. This same process can be used to upload blogs, content pages, or parts finder information.
The content path is where you define your category hierarchy. You’ll see that some categories don’t have a path, as they sit at the top level, such as clothing. Below it sits Men’s Clothing, as it is a sub-category Clothing. In this example we also have a sub-sub-category of clothing, in Shorts, which is under clothing, then mens clothing.
The name is what you want to call your category, and will be visible to customers viewing your site.
Other option fields include description, sort order, and SEO tags. Please view our in depth documentation for all fields and their use.
More data can be added by typing information into a new row, following the format provided.
Once you’ve populated your file, save it as a CSV file (MS-DOS), and upload it into Neto, and Continue To Next Step.
Map your fields to Neto’s database. If you’ve used one of the pre-defined templates, this step will be done for you. Otherwise, match the fields name from your file, to the fields available in Neto. Once complete, Continue To Next Step.
Choose how you want your data to be updated, if new categories should be added, or if you only want to update existing categories, then Continue To Next Step.
Neto also has an import template system which allows you to store imports and run them on schedules. If you will be performing this import regularly and want to save it for future use, tick the option to save this as an Import Template. Give the template a Name and click Process File Now.
The file will be queued to import and update your product categories or content automatically.
