When you ship small items in envelopes, it’s important to create a new shipping matrix to reflect this type of shipping. In this guide, we’ll show you how to setup a letter based shipping setup without affecting your other courier based shipping methods.
From the Neto dashboard, navigate to Shipping > Add New Matrix.
Click on Add custom matrix.
Under Step 1. Calculator Type select Weight or size (cubic) of order.
Under Step 3. Shipping Zones select Australia Wide.
Under Step 5. Rates and Charges select your weight range and cost for your 1st parcel and subsequent parcel when it exceeds this weight. At the time writing this article, the weight range is 0kg to .25kg and the cost of a letter is $1.00. Once complete, click Next Step.
Under Step 6. Naming and Availability, set Name to Letters and set Available to PO Box Addresses to Available. Click Next Step.
Under Step 7. Special Pricing Rules, optionally tick Enable additional pricing rules if you want to make this option free over an certain spending amount. Click Next Step.
Click Complete Setup.
Now that we’ve completed the matrix setup, we need to create a ‘shipping category’ which will funnel products to be recognised by this matrix.
From the Neto dashboard, navigate to Setup & Tools > Shipping.
Name the new category Letters and Save & Close.
Click Shipping Categories. Click the green Add New button on the top right hand side.
We now need to be in the Shipping Matrix Overview to add our shipping category. From the Neto dashboard, navigate to Shipping > Matrix Overview.
Scroll down to Letters and click the edit button (pencil icon) next to the name to edit the shipping matrix.
Scroll down to the Map your shipping categories to Shipping Services. Delete all of the categories (such as Default, Dangerous Goods, etc) showing in this section.
Click Add Shipping Category and add Letters for both drop-down menu options. Click Save & Close.
Now go back to the Shipping Matrix Overview page and edit your remaining shipping setups. Simply add Letters as a shipping category and populate the drop-down menu's as above. This will allow letters to be purchased with other bigger items.
Now that your shipping matrix and categories are setup, you need to identify products which are only to be shipped by letter. To do this, navigate to Products > View Products and edit product you wish to make changes to.
Click the Shipping tab section and select Letters as the Shipping Category and save changes. Repeat for any other products you wish to send as letters.
Now that this is complete, your product will be marked as a ‘letter’ shipping method during the pick, pack and dispatch process.
