When we talk about Shipping in Neto, we are usually referring to a Shipping Matrix. We refer to it as a Matrix as it is made up of a combination of information that all interacts to produce a final output, in this case, a Shipping Cost.
In Neto, a Shipping Matrix is made up of the following information:
Putting it all together looks something like this:
Shipping Zones are used to group area's of the same shipping attributes (usually pricing). In Neto, Shipping Zones are made up of a table of Zone Codes assigned to From and To Post Code ranges.
For example, Australia Post defines the region of Brisbane as Zone code: Q1 which covers the following Post Code Ranges:
|From Post Code||To Post Code|
Neto allows you to import and use multiple Shipping Zone tables from multiple carriers. This allows you to customise how your web store handles local, domestic and international orders.
A freight rate is a price at which a certain cargo is delivered from one point to another. The price depends on the form of the cargo, the mode of transport (truck, ship, train, aircraft), the weight of the cargo, and the distance to the delivery destination. Many shipping services, especially air carriers, use dimensional weight for calculating the price, which takes into account both weight and volume of the cargo.
In Neto, Service and Rates Tables are used to define pricing in conjunction with a Shipping Zones Table They are used to apply charges to specific zones.
Fixed Rate By Item (Standard) - Charge fixed shipping rates on an item by item basis. Only used when you have defined a set express or standard shipping price for individual items in your inventory table.
Fixed Rate by Carton - Charge fixed shipping rates based on set quantities and customers location.
Fixed Rate by Item Quantity - Charge fixed shipping rates based on the item quantities and customers location.
Fixed Rate By InvoiceTotal - Charge fixed shipping rates based on the invoice total and customers location.
Fixed Rate By Item Total - Charge fixed shipping rates based on the total value of specific items on an order and customers location.
Third Party Shipping Rate (API) - Uses the third party hosted calculator to calculate shipping totals based on weight/ cubic dimensions of order
Flat Rate - Charge a flat shipping rate to specified locations regardless of order total or items on order.
Weight/Cubic - Charge for shipping based on the calculated order weight, cubic dimensions and customers location.
Shipping Categories are used when there is a need to separate products into different shipping options.
This can be used to only permit certain items being shipped by a specific method or carrier, or to charge a different shipping cost for these items.
Shipping methods are the services that are made available to your customers on the website front end, or to eBay.
They are made up of a combination of your Shipping Categories and Service and Rates tables.
